High Culture at the Zurich Film Festival 2017

The 13th Zurich Film Festival is a staple of the international film festival circuit and regularly attracts just shy of 100,000 visitors to the streets of Switzerland’s most picturesque destination. Welcoming big names, debuting films and a packed schedule that teems with glitzy affairs, the Zurich Film Festival 2017 is set to be the largest edition to date.

About the Zurich Film Festival

Established in 2005, the Zurich Film Festival has blossomed into a truly international competition. In 2017, the festival will welcome filmmakers from all over the world to compete for the coveted Golden Eye Award. The event comprises a variety of forward-thinking categories and features – some political in their focus, others artistic: the ‘New World View’ series documents the current creative tendencies of a geographic region; ‘Border Lines’ presents films that portray controversial border situations; ‘TVision’ examines breakthrough television formats; and the ‘Zurich Master Class,’ the ‘Zurich Summit,’ and the ‘Film Music Competition’ round off the vast array of attractions.

Another exciting feature of the festival, which is already well underway, is the highly anticipates ZFF72, which invites amateur filmmakers to submit a 72-second film. Entrants are given just 72 hours to create their entry.

•     An Inconvenient Sequel: Truth to Power – 10 years after the release of An Inconvenient Truth, this hard-hitting documentary is set to make a political statement at the Zurich Film Festival 2017. Al Gore will be attending the event in person to present the documentary.
