Can’t-Miss Things to Do in Brussels

29 Sep 2017

Brussels, the capital of Belgium and a major European area, is full of beauty, history, delicious meals, nightlife, shopping, and much more. If you’re visiting Brussels, be prepared: there’s a lot to do here! You’ll want to know ahead of time what some of the best stops in Brussels are. Here are four of our favorite spots in Brussels:

1. Grand Place

Perhaps the most popular tourist destination and most recognized landmark in Brussels, Grand Place started in the 10th century by Charles, Duke of Lower Lorraine. This medieval square still holds historic buildings from the 17th century. If you’re lucky, you’ll be there to see the flower carpet. This only happens every two years, for a few days in August.

2. Beer Tasting

We highly recommend going on a beer tasting tour! Over the course of about three hours, you’ll get to peruse the beer scene that Brussels is famous for, all while enjoying specialty brew.

3. Notre Dame du Sablon

A beautiful example of Brabantine gothic style, the Notre Dame du Sablon’s architecture is truly captivating. In 1436, the church was transformed to a major gothic church, and it remained that way until the start of the 16th century.

4. World War I Battlefields

See what World War I was like from a different standpoint. You can find a tour that will show you Flanders battlefields, monuments, and even graves. While you’re in Brussels, learn about world history on the same grounds where part of it was fought.

Brussels is a remarkable area to visit. We highly recommend checking out the above listed experiences - we know they’ll prove to be unforgettable!
